Bull SharkKeaty Family Fishing Trip In Gulf ShoresBuddy Keaty Fights a bull shark in gulf shores

Buddy Keaty called me to set up a fishing charter for his family and kids.  He wanted his kids to have a lot of action.  We decided on the light tackle charter.

The Keaty family showed up on time and were ready to go catch some fish.  With Buddy, was his wife Laurie, their kids Austin, Haley and Andrew. We headed south into a three foot rolling sea.  This was a perfect day to go deep sea fishing in Gulf Shores.  The water was still a dirty, greenish color.  The further out we got away from shore, the water cleared up a bit.  We turned the boat into the south wind and were suddenly surprised with a west current again.  We ended up having to hold the charter boat into the current which made us sit the boat in what we call a side sea.

The fish did not mind the current at all.  We ended up catching a mess of snappers before the wild dolphin came around begging for a hand out.Andrews first red snapper  We pulled up and moved further offshore and away from the dolphin.    We fished a total of five reefs where we found ourselves having a great day fishing.

On the last reef, we dropped a bait down so Buddy and and the boys could catch a big shark.  For some reason, this appears to be the year of the shark.  Lem got Austin hooked up on a monster shark.  It did not take long for Austin to want some relief.  That shark was big.  Buddy took over and he had his hands full for a while.   We got the bull shark up to the surface and got some good pictures before we let him go.

Today was a wonderful day.  We look forward to many more days just like today!  But, without the west current.Hayleys first red snapper
