It has been over a week since the "BP OIL SPILL" was supposed to come ashore in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The news media has been so focussed on making this disaster a newsworthy event that some people have been calling us and asking us about it.
As of today, May 7, 2010, there is no oil on or near the Alabama gulf coast. Of course, we know that can change at any time. For right now, we are getting inside information from friends of ours out in the oil field that are saying that this spill is bad but it is not near as bad as the media wants it to be.
We had boats out as far as 50 miles and there is not even a sheen of oil to be found. We spoke with Steve Karrigan of Fox News, New York the other day and he was not really interested in filming the oil spill if it was only a sheen. We talked about taking them offshore to see it but I warned him that it might be a long ride before we found any signs of oil.
We are still in business and booking fishing charters daily. Fishing is closed for 10 days way out in federal waters. That means 95 percent of the Gulf of Mexico is open and you can catch fish. We encourage you to come down and enjoy a fishing trip before the hot Summer months arrive. You will be glad you did.
